Description & Pairings:
An intense ruby red, Picus opens with expressive aromas of cherry and ripe plum, layered with sweet spice, liquorice and a touch of oak from French barrel ageing. The palate is rounded and fresh, with firm yet balanced tannins and a finish that reflects the clay-rich hills of Ascoli Piceno. Named after the woodpecker, a symbol of the ancient Piceni tribe.
Pairs well with roasted lamb, beef, aged sheep’s cheese and hearty pasta dishes. Decant briefly before serving.
