Italy, Tuscany

Tuscany, nestled in the heart of central Italy, is one of the world's most iconic wine regions, celebrated for its breathtaking landscape of rolling hills, cypress-lined roads and ancient hilltop towns that have shaped the story of Italian wine for centuries. The region benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate moderated by altitude and the cooling influence of the Apennine Mountains to the east, creating ideal conditions for the cultivation of Sangiovese, Tuscany's great native grape. The region is perhaps best known for its production of Chianti, one of the most recognised wine names in the world, produced across a broad zone of central Tuscany and reaching its finest expression in the historic Chianti Classico heartland between Florence and Siena. Here, on well-drained soils of clay, galestro and albarese, Sangiovese produces wines of remarkable character — bright red fruit, earthy depth and a natural freshness that makes them equally at home at the table as they are in the cellar. Beyond Chianti, Tuscany is home to some of Italy's most celebrated appellations, from the powerful Brunello di Montalcino to the elegant Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, cementing the region's place as one of the great wine destinations of the world.
